Lawn Soils & Garden Soils - $25 a yard.
Larry's Best Garden Compost/Soil - $50 a yard
Delivery varies.
Larry’s garden compost/soil is made
from: hay, straw, woodchips, sawdust, dehyd.chicken manure,
gypsum, lime, sugerbeat lime, Canadian peat moss, oak leaves phase2 compost[before mushroom growing], mushroom
stumps, shiitake logs, raw materials are mixed and composted, then blended together, and turned with
an aero-master bio-systems turner sprayed with water and natural compost tea’s, and goody water. Great
for vegetables, gives higher brix readings on all veggies.
This product requires more input in man hours and material.
The proper microbial population of each soil
is necessary to support what specific growing needs each plant type requires. Most woody stock plants, like
rhododendrons and azaleas, require more fungal dominated soils while most flowers and vegetables grow in a more
bacterial dominated soil type.

The Silver program: PSCU's (polymer coated
sulfur-coated urea) or SCU's (sulfur-coated urea).
Here is an explanation of these fertilizers.
Sulfur-coated urea (SCU)as
slow release fertilizers are known. It is the customary process with the
production of sulfur-coated urea, granules of urea which has been preheated
to about 160° F. to 180° F., are introduced into a drum, the urea granules
cascade around the drum as the drum rotates. As the cascading granules pass
through the drum, molten sulfur is sprayed onto
the urea granules from nozzles within the drum. When a droplet of molten
sulfur contacts a granule and quickly
solidifies and a continuous coating of
sulfur is formed on a
urea granule when a sufficient number of molten sulfur droplets have made
contact with it.
Because of the inherent
brittleness of the crystalline solid sulfur-coating which forms on the
granule (SCU), and the thin, or even noncontinuous coating on many of the
granules, it is customary that some type of secondary outer coating or
sealant be spray applied onto the sulfur-coating surface. Usually this
sealant has been either a polymeric hydrocarbon, petroleum-based
wax,
or a combination of high viscosity polymeric paraffinic oil plus
polyethylene, which is spray applied as a hot melt
liquid onto the hot, but solid sulfur-coating surface.
Although these sulfur-coated urea products generally have good
slow release characteristics as manufactured, the impact and abrasion
resistance of the coating is low. Mechanical degradation of the coating occurs
as a consequence because of the handling,
transportation, blending and application operations, which results in
significant deterioration of slow release
properties. Therefore, you do not recieve the most value for the purchase with
these materials.
Gold program: Mesa & MethEx
With methylene urea and sulfate of ammonia
combined in each tiny granule,
exclusive MESA fertilizer products works immediately to provide
a
consistent, brilliant green color that will help your turf
perform at its best. MESA retains its slow release
attributes even when cracked, chipped or crushed. Cut
a piece of MESA in half, it’s still
MESA!
MESA consistently produced
excellent turf quality. When compared to SCU and
urea there was no significant difference in quality. Additionally, MESA produced 45% fewer
clippings.
For years, sulfur coated
urea (SCU) and similar products, have long been thought of as
an effective way to control the release of
fertilizer nutrients. Unfortunately, these
coated-products have always contained
shortcomings: losing their slow-release
properties when cracked, the coating adding no
agronomic value to the soil, and their inability
to break down completely, leaving residual behind. Turf managers always had to accept these problems and deal with the
consequences, until
now. MESA, the first nitrogen source to combine ammonium sulfate with methylene urea in a single particle.
MESA is a smarter alternative to
coated-products.Here’s why:
• The release of ammonium
sulfate is effectively controlled to provide consistent, brilliant
turf color.
• No artificial coatings
means no residual is left behind.
• MESA is not subject to
nutrient lock-off making it a more consistent, reliable
product.
• No ‘flush-growth’
response after application means less clippings and healthier
turf.
METH-EX 40® nitrogen is a
granular controlled release nitrogen based on methylene urea
polymers. METH-EX 40 is released over a single
growing season of 12 to 16 weeks through
hydrolysis and by soil microorganisms. METH-EX 40
provides only nitrogen and may be used in direct
applications as
described below. Supplements of
phosphorus, potash and other nutrients should be
applied as soil tests and other local conditions
indicate.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
METH-EX 40 nitrogen is intended for use on any
fine turf and ornamental area including but not
limited to: golf courses, sod farms, home lawns,
parks,
cemeteries, nurseries, ornamentals, fruit, citrus
trees and vegetables.
Natural
Fertilizers:
The product we prefer to use is listed by the Organic
Materials Review Institute (OMRI), microSTART60 (3-2-3) and microSTART60
Plus (7-2-2) deliver nutrients to crops and fields in slow-release
formulations that improve soil aeration and water filtration and prevent
leaching, run-off and soil erosion. MicroSTART meets the requirements of
the National Organic Program for organic crop production.
Poultry litter has long been recognized as a rich, natural
source of nutrients and organic matter. The proprietary process dries and
pasteurizes poultry litter to create both pellets and granular fertilizer
that can be used as a stand-alone organic fertilizer or to complement
other products. Raw material is heated and pasteurized, removing moisture
and destroying bacteria and weed seed. The dried material is then reduced
to a powder before it is transferred to the pellet mill.
Moisture captured in the drying step is re-used in the
pelletizing process. The finished product, an OMRI-listed organic
fertilizer, is then stored in an enclosed warehouse room. MicroSTART60
products are sold in bulk for commercial application to golf courses,
sports fields, vegetables, field crops and nurseries. Our products are
safe and easy to apply using conventional equipment.
MicroSTART60 is also a key ingredient in leading consumer
brands of organic lawn-and-garden products.

Topsoil in Delaware
Topdressing is a proven practice often completed
in conjunction with core aeration for turf maintenance programs and renovation procedures. Topdressing adds organic
soil amendments, which improves the physical, chemical, and biological
characteristics of soil. This enhances turf quality and vigor and improves its resistance to
stress.
Today, high
quality compost combined with overseeding can bring a thinning and unhealthy lawn back to life
again.
Top dressing benefits the lawn as it builds up
the quality of the soil over a period of time, - sandy soils will be able to retain moisture better and so the lawn
will be more resistant to drought, clay soils will drain better thus improving root development. Another benefit of
top dressing the lawn is that it will help to even out any lumps and bumps that are present on an uneven lawn,
filling in any small hollows that may develop. Top dressing also stimulates the grass to produce new shoots and so
results in denser grass cover which helps combat the onset of weed and moss infestation.
Top dressing is carried out routinely by
professional greenkeepers to ensure a top quality finish.
